Mike Mills: Eternally Punk

Santa Barbara’s skateboarding scene indoctrinated BEGINNERS and C'MON C'MON filmmaker Mike Mills into a thriving subculture of punk music, which he credits as fundamental to his becoming an artist. With its cathartic energy and spirit of transgression, punk provided a megaphone for sublimated emotions, while its DIY ethos taught him that you don’t need permission to be yourself or assert control.
