The Panic in Needle Park, Scarface, Drugstore Cowboy, Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Requiem for a Dream, Pineapple Express, Enter the Void, Heaven Knows What, Mandy: Stories centered around drug use, addiction and dealing have resulted in some of the most compelling and nuanced films in modern cinema. It doesn’t hurt that these tales of excess and dependency in its various forms often feature actors at their most committed and unrecognizable, along with lively montages and bumping soundtracks.
