The path to a filmmaking career is an odyssey of curiosity and discovery unique to every artist. For director, producer, writer and Galerie curator Sebastián Lelio (Gloria, Oscar-winning A Fantastic Woman, The Wonder) the journey began as a student at the Chilean Film School, part of a generation of burgeoning artists piecing back together a nation’s rich cinematic history from the rubble of a 17-year military dictatorship. "The powerful 'New Chilean cinema' had to be re-discovered," shares Lelio. "It was a moment to recognize what had been done and understand where we were coming from."
Join Lelio for an intimate chat on the experiences and cinematic influences that have shaped his unique mastery. He’ll reflect on his time in school, his early short films and his critically lauded and award-winning features and also dive into anything you’re curious about! Not to be missed.
