Movie of the Week: DOGTOOTH
LIVE DISCUSSION
FRIDAY | JULY 25th | 1pm PT
Welcome to Movie of the Week! Each week we spotlight a film that deserves a closer look. You can stream it at your own pace over the course of the week and then join the group chat on Friday to talk about it.
About the movie
Three adult siblings live in complete isolation on a large compound with their parents. Kept in perpetual childhood, their days are strictly regimented and filled with a cautious curiosity. Meanwhile, Father leaves every day to work a high-level factory job, and Mother locks herself in her room to speak on a hidden phone.
Why Dogtooth?
To put it simply: There’s nothing quite like it. Trust us. While known for his English-language films—including The Lobster and Poor Things—it was Dogtooth that catapulted visionary director Yorgos Lanthimos to international recognition. “I remember thinking: This film feels like it’s inventing something,” reflects Galerie curator Lukas Dhont. In June the mind-bending drama received a 4K–restoration theater re-release.
