"It’s show time, folks!"

Part fantasy, part musical, part vivisection, Bob Fosse’s spirited All That Jazz depicts the high speed days and nights of director, choreographer, father, womanizer, alcoholic and Alka Seltzer–chugging genius Joe Gideon (a commanding Roy Scheider) as he attempts to stage a new Broadway musical and edit his latest film, all the while reflecting on formative memories with the beautiful Angel of Death (Jessica Lange).

Join critic Adam Nayman to celebrate Fosse’s dynamic filmmaking and examine the personal dimensions of this dizzying classic, winner of the 1980 Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or (a prize shared with Akira Kurosawa’s Kagemusha) and four Academy Awards, including Best Film Editing for the legendary Alan Heim. As Galerie curator Ethan Hawke notes, “Personal filmmaking at its finest.”
